Disability Dance Classes
Our qualified staff teach a wide variety of styles, from ballroom dancing thru to salsa, rock'n'roll and line dancing. Working with children and adults living with disability, we find many are very happy in our mainstream classes. While we encourage all students to attend our classes, regardless of ability, some students need more attention than others.
These students attend classes designed for their specific needs.
We run a disability dance class every Wednesday, 1-2pm. This class is tailored to adults and teens living with intellectual disability. We encourage support staff to participate - our students love the involvement of their team!
We teach a wide variety of styles, from ballroom dancing and latin, thru to party dances like the Hokey Pokey and Macarena. Classes cover different dances and skills, based on the physical/intellectual abilities of the students. For this reason, we may suggest different classes - based on the needs of the student.
Wheelchair users fit within a wide scope of classes, dependant on freedom of movement and also intellectual abilities. Often the adaption of movements means they can participate in standard classes. All staff are trained in wheelchair dance.
We may also recommend 1-on-1 lessons. These are a great way for students with physical disability to develop confidence and work within their individual abilities. Our staff are all trained in inclusive practices, with many trained in basic Auslan, Haptics and Competitive ParaDance.
Teachers are available 7 days a week, for morning, afternoon or evening lessons.
